Websites About Naples and the Area

Naples Politics   ====>

This new (November 2009) blog is called Naples Politics and is written by Anthony M. Quattrone (photo). This promises to be a goldmine of information about the politics of the area.

                 Visiting Capri

For those interested in the Isle of Capri, this is a good one. It is run by Rebecca Brooks, resident of Capri and as delightful as the isle, itself!  She will tell you what you need to know about visiting the island.

These are Larry Ray's articles and translations about the ancient and mysterious world beneath Naples--the caverns and tombs and miles of tunnels. This is easily the best such storehouse of information in English on the internet.

For those of you crazy about Neapolitan home-cooking (and if you're not, you're just plain crazy) this is a fine personal page by a longtime resident of the area.

Napoli.com ====>

Electronic newspaper about Naples. It includes recent Italian-language articles about the city and now mirrors much of the Enlish-language material on this Around Naples website. It also has German and Chinese articles!

City Hall ====>

This is the official website for the city of Naples. It is in Italian.

Schedule for the San Carlo Theater.

Schedule of concerts put on by the Alessandro Scarlatti Association.

Link to the geology observatory on Mt. Vesuvius. Good English-language page, as well, plus history and current research. There are two people on duty all the time, watching the squiggles on the monitors! You can, too. They are updated every 40 seconds. If they start to squiggle too wildly (the graphs, not the people), run.

Totò  ======>

For those interested in Totò, the great Neapolitan comic, there are a number of sites. This one looks good.

Science City ====>

Science City in Bagnoli maintains this page. It's a good hands-on science fair for both kids and adults.

This is a German company specializing in records and books about Naples.

The site is called Best of the Web. If you start at the top, Italy, you can easily work your way down the hierarchy to Naples and the area. Good quick searches for lodging, restaurants, etc.

And have a look at Flavio's website. It's a good personal page by a young Neapolitan with interests in photography, aeronautics and music. This link is to the "Naples" section.
